Terms of Service
Last updated May 28, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Roost app and website. Please read them — by using Roost you agree to them.
1. Acceptance
These Terms of Service are between you and Merit Apps LLC, a Texas limited liability company and the operator of Roost. By downloading, installing, or using Roost ("the app"), or by using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Roost.
2. What Roost is
Roost helps families schedule limits on distracting apps using Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls. It is a routine and self-control aid — not a security product, parental-monitoring service, or guarantee. App blocking depends on iOS and Apple's frameworks and may not block every app or prevent a determined user from changing settings. Do not rely on Roost for any safety-critical purpose, and continue to supervise children directly.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the parent or legal guardian of the person whose device Roost is configured on, to set up and manage Roost.
4. License
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Roost for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or distribute the app except as permitted by law.
5. Acceptable use
- Use Roost only on devices you own or are authorized to manage.
- Do not use Roost to interfere with, abuse, or harm others.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to our systems, including the PIN recovery service.
6. Your PIN and recovery email
You are responsible for your parent PIN and for keeping access to the recovery email you register. Your PIN is stored only on your device and we cannot recover or reset it for you — PIN resets require access to your registered email. If you lose access to both your PIN and that email, you may need to reinstall the app and lose your current settings.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
Roost is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that app blocking will be complete, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that the service will always be available.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roost and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of or inability to use the app, including any failure of the app to limit access to a particular app or service.
9. Changes to the service and terms
We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these terms. When we make material changes to these terms, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Roost after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using Roost at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are violated or if needed to protect the service or other users.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
